FAQs

How long does the process take?

After you watch the Webinar – or attend a Peace of Mind Planning Session – we will have a Design Meeting. After that meeting, your Estate Plan will be ready and executed within 4-6 weeks!

What does getting an Estate Plan cost?

It costs less than not having one! The value of having an Estate Plan goes beyond the monetary – and we discuss the value and the costs in both the Webinar and Peace of Mind Planning Session. Additionally, unlike other law firms, all of our fees are flat-fees and we do not bill time!

How can I nominate a guardian for my children if my spouse and I pass away?

A guardianship nomination goes into a Last Will and Testament – or a Pour-over Will if a Revocable Living Trust is present – and you and your spouse will nominate your choice of guardians in each of your Wills.

What if I move states? Is my estate plan still valid?

It depends. Wills can be problematic across state lines. Trusts are generally valid in all 50 states. Health Care Directives and Powers of Attorney are state specific. If you move to a different state, it is recommended you work with an estate planning attorney licensed in that state to determine if your documents are valid or if you will need to get new ones

Do I need to come into your office?

Nope! We provide all services completely virtually! And you get to decide if you want to have an in-home Signing Ceremony or come into the office.

What is a Vacation POA and why do I need one?

If you have minor children and plan to leave them with a temporary caregiver (babysitter), then having a Vacation POA will give you total Peace of Mind that your caregiver has the full authority to act in the best interest of your children.

I’m single without kids – do I need an estate plan?

If you want to specify who gets your assets when you pass away, instead of them being distributed according to state law, then yes, you need an estate plan. Also, everyone needs incapacity planning documents such as health care directives and a power of attorney.

I have an old Will –what happens to that if I want to get a new one or upgrade to a Trust?

Your new documents will revoke any prior Will or Trust you have in place.
